Features of Egyptian Dermatology Online Journal

Editorial policies Egyptian Dermatology Online Journal is a refereed journal. Original manuscripts will be considered for publication. Information that has been published or is being considered for publication elsewhere will not be accepted. Manuscripts that appear to meet the goals of the Journal will be reviewed by two independent reviewers before a decision is made on publication. Authors who have a new concept for online presentation are welcome to contact the Editors to initiate a dialog.

Style Manuscripts should conform to acceptable language usage. The authors may offer a parallel translation into another language, but the editorial review will be done on the primary language of the manuscript, English and Arabic. Abbreviations must be limited primarily to those in general usage. Generic names must be used. If a trade name is included, it should follow the generic name in parentheses the first time mentioned. Thereafter, generic names only should be used. Weights and measurements should be expressed in metric units, and temperatures in degrees centigrade.

The Editors encourage the use of more than one pathway of presentation of the material which might allow the reader greater flexibility in viewing. Items which are given as linked material may link back to the primary manuscript path and/or provide additional linked material.

Preparation of Manuscripts

By submitting your article for publication, you grant Egyptian Dermatology Online Journal the copyright to reproduce that work and associated images in electronic format (on the Internet or as a CD-ROM version of the Internet site). The author otherwise retains copyright to the written material and any associated images.

Original articles may be submitted in English or Arabic. Send your manuscript in digital format in simple text, Microsoft Word, or RTF to the Editor. The Journal uses the accepted standard scientific format:

References: Reference citations within the article should be noted with square brackets following punctuation like this.[2,3,4] If necessary one may also place a citation in the middle of a sentence (The sentence may need to pinpoint the citation to a specific comment[5] and not link it to the subsequent remarks.) In the reference section, list the references by a simple number at the start of a line, followed by a period and space, like this:

Tables and figures may be included in the document, however Images will need to be transferred as separate files. The extensive use of images is encouraged (See the subsequent section for a discussion of options for transmitting these files.). It would be helpful for you to indicate the appropriate location of your figures within your text. You may use curly braces for these remarks. Please place these remarks on the line preceding the appropriate paragraph. One figure will "float" to the right side of the paragraph. Two figures will appear side-by-side above the indicated paragraph.

{fig 1}
Here is the text of the paragraph. The figure
will appear to the right of this text. Note that
the figure location is indicated by curly braces,
not parentheses.

{fig 2, fig 3}
Here is the text of another paragraph. The two
indicated figures will appear above this text.
Again, the figure locations are indicated by
curly braces, not parentheses.

Images The standard size for images is 768*512 pixels. We will derive smaller inline versions to be linked to the full version. Clinical photographs should be saved in medium JPEG/JFIF compression format. Line drawings or tables should be in Compuserve GIF format. Please limit the width of any in-line material to 434 pixels. Please avoid spaces when numbering your images and use the extension to indicate the compression algorithm (e.g., figure1.jpeg, figure2.gif, etc.).
